Costa Rica Zoo Volunteer
On this Costa Rica voluntary placement you will have a great opportunity to do practical hands-on work with some of Central America's most unique animal wildlife. Working as a zookeeper assistant, you will look after animals and deal with their daily care. You will have the possibility of learning about the animals' behaviour and acting as a zoo guide for school children.
This is a fun and rewarding volunteer programme, ideally suited to animal lovers and volunteers who want first hand experience of interacting with the amazing species of animals in Central America.
The Volunteer ProjectThis is an excellent project for those who would like to work abroad during a career break or gap year and see first-hand Costa Rica's abundant species of fauna and animal life.
You will be working in a zoo located in the North of Costa Rica, and actively participating in all of the daily tasks. This could range from working with vets while they care for and feed the different animals, to getting dirty cleaning the animal enclosures!
Project LocationThe “La Marina Zoo” is based around two hours drive from the capital, San José. It is just outside the city of San Carlos, in the Palmera district’s marina, between Aguas Zarcas and. Ciudad Quesada
Accommodation & MealsYou will stay with a local host family who know all about your project. You have your own room, usually with shared bathroom, and access to all the facilities you could need.
You will be given 3 meals daily by your host family.
