India Desert & Beach Combo

There are several volunteer placements to choose from in India. Voluntary workers with Real Gap have the opportunity to work in childcare centers or schools or in an AIDS shelter or orphanage.

In addition to caring for the children and their community you will also have the opportunity to explore the culture of these regional areas; experience a yoga workshop and join a camel safari. There is also plenty of time to top up your tan and enjoy the beach parties!

Day 37-40 Volunteer placement starts (choose from working in a childcare centre, special education camps for disadvantaged children or computer education to groups of local women and adolescent girls)
Day 41-42 Weekend to Relax
Day 43-47 Volunteer placement continues
Day 48-49 Weekend free to party, sunbathe and relax
Day 50-54 Volunteer placement continues
Day 55 Departure for Mumbai
Day 56 Arrival into Mumbai and fly back home or continue travelling

Please note:This program flies volunteers in to New Delhi and out of Mumbai. If, however, you are planning to stay in India at the end of this Real Gap program, you should arrange your return journey to fly out of the airport of your choice.

Project Location

Weeks 1-4 You will be based in Shiv a small town in the Rajasthan desert.

Weeks 5-8 You will be based in Colva in Goa on the west coast of India. Colva is one of the most spectacular of south Goa’s beaches.

Accommodation & Meals

Rajasthan
Your accommodation is basic but authentic – a clean and comfortable mud hut complete with en-suite bathroom! All buffet style meals are served in the restaurant area.

Goa
You will share basic accommodation with simple bathrooms and western toilets located right next to the beach. The meals are wonderful and plentiful consisting mainly of Indian breads, vegetable curries and fruit.

Programme Summary:
