Monkey Rehabilitation Conservation South Africa
If you’re planning to work with wildlife in Africa, our rehabilitation project for monkeys is a fun and satisfying program to volunteer on. There you’ll help to nurse orphaned or injured monkeys (and many other animals) back to health. This project focuses on the vervet species of monkey and you will have the satisfaction of being involved in releasing them back into their original habitats.
Volunteer RoleNot just orphaned or injured monkeys are helped on this project, there are all types of animals. You can be part of a satisfying start to finish process of rescuing the animals, nursing them and once they’re back to full health be part of the team that release them back in to their natural environments. You’ll also be actively participating in schemes that improve government policy on animals along with wildlife conservation.
You will also have the opportunity to work with rural local communities and their children, assisting and teaching schemes that promote local commerce without destroying animal habitats.
The project requires volunteers to do the following tasks:
- Feed animals
- Prepare food
- Check animals for injuries
- Help tend to wounds
- Build new enclosures
- Plant veggies for the animals' food
In fact there are numerous more tasks so it’s good as a Volunteer on any African project to keep an open mind about what you will be asked to do! This is a very rewarding Volunteering in South Africa project where you’ll be required to get your hands dirty.
